This material includes tungsten carbide, cobalt, and nickel agglomerated together to create a high hardness and extreme wear resistant deposit that is sprayed primarily with helium. The relative toughness and strain tolerance in comparison to many thermal sprayed carbides give this material advantages in applications in which high wear and high mechanical stresses are present, without sacrificing the wear performance of the material. While hardness is typically 650-750 HV depending on spray conditions, this material has shown excellent performance in metal-on-metal and abrasive wear testing. Typical applications include sealing surfaces, wear pads, shaft journals, and similar wear parts. WC01 has been applied to steel, stainless steel, nickel alloys, aluminum, and titanium often using a bondcoat such as BC01 to enhance bonding for higher hardness materials such as hardened steel. Deposits can be machined by grinding or honing. WC01 is flowable and is inertly packed in packages of 1, 2.5, and 10 pounds.
